Get The Family Involved For a Fun Garden Activity
You can make gardening a fun activity for the whole family by getting them all involved. You can get the kids involved by buying them some tiny garden equipment. Look in Poundland or toy shops for something for them to use. They will love watering plants and flowers too.
If you decide to grow runner beans, then drop some shiny coins at the bottom of the plant. Then you can tell them that the giant from Jack and The Beanstalk dropped them. This is great for creating memories.

Easy To Grow Vegetables
There are a few easy vegetables to grow in your garden and they take little effort.
- Potatoes – you will need to buy some special seed potatoes. Although they look the same as normal potatoes, they are special ones that are guaranteed to be safe for growing. You need to let them sprout and plant them in the sunshine. They like the sun and will grow better then.
- Beans – These are so easy to grow and unlike potatoes, you can actually see them grow. Whether you choose runner beans, broad beans or green beans you can have fun watching them grow. Start them off indoors in pots or containers, and then move them outside after the frosty season. They will need canes to help to support them and they are thirsty plants, so need lots of water.
- Carrots are another easy vegetable to grow. They grow either in the ground or in containers. So if you are short on the ground space, you can put them in containers and spread them around the garden. They don’t need so much watering as other vegetables.
- Tomatoes are a colourful vegetable (or fruit) to grow, again they grow upwards so they are sure to add colour to your garden. Start them off inside the house or greenhouse, and then plant them out as soon as the weather is better. They do need watering regularly and might need a little bit of tomato food to help them grow. But seeing the colour of the tomatoes certainly cheers you and your garden up.
Growing Flowers and Plants To Make Gardening A Fun Activity
Like I said earlier, it is up to you if you want just one type of flower. Or whether you want 100 types of flowers. This is your garden, your blank easel to add colour to. There are just a few things you might want to think about when you are planting your flowers and plants whilst making gardening a fun activity.
- What flowers do you want? Do you want perennials that grow in your garden for many years? Or do you want a clean slate every year and just choose annuals?
- Are you growing from seeds or bulbs? Bulbs will grow back year after year, but with seeds, you can scatter them all over the garden. And they will add a bigger variety of flowers.
- Are the plants or flowers safe? Although some plants or flowers look beautiful in your garden. They might not be safe for pets or children. Try to avoid the poisonous plants for your tranquil surrounding.
- Can you commit to the upkeep of flowers? It is all fine and well, planting seeds, but you do need to keep looking after them. Not only as they grow, but when they are grown too. They do take a little bit of commitment to grow.
