Make Christmas Magical For Kids
Christmas is a wonderful time for children. It’s a time of magic and belief. During this special time, you need to encourage your children to participate in all aspects of Christmas decorating so that they can enjoy every minute of the holidays with you. Okay, sometimes it gets stressful at Christmas because our kids are overexcited little shits. But It is also the most memorable time of the year for us all. The time we make our kid’s dreams come true. Here are some tips on how to make Christmas magical for kids this year.
Here are ten tips to help your children help you decorate this holiday season.
1) Make the day that you decorate a fun-filled day. Will you be purchasing a tree at a local store, a tree farm, or putting an artificial tree? If you purchase a tree at a local store then make the outing for the whole family by going to lunch or doing some other fun activity for the children. also if you are heading to a tree farm the event will be fun because most of the local farms offer hot chocolate, Christmas decorations, and even hay rides often.
If you are going to a tree farm. Then pack a picnic lunch or snacks for a fun day in the snow. Perhaps bring a sledge for the little ones to play on. If you putting up the same boxed artificial tree this can be fun for the whole family, too. Let the children help dad assemble the branches and arrange the tree so it looks perfect.
2) When it’s time to string the lights you will want to check them to make sure that they all work. The children will want to gather around for this activity. Children adore looking at coloured lights. Be patient and answer all their questions. Let them pick out any replacement bulbs to be installed.
3) Placing the Nativity scene out should be a large event. While you set it up let the children handle the figures carefully and explain to them the story of the first Christmas. Some families place the baby Jesus out on Christmas Eve and if this is the case then go over the reason why you do this with your children. Most kids adore the story of the first Christmas.
4) Let your children help you to hang each ornament. If you are afraid that they might break the ornaments then have a couple of boxes of unbreakable ornaments available for them to utilize. They will enjoy placing these on the tree themselves.
5) Let the children hand you the tinsel and the garland as you apply them to the tree.
6) When I was little placing the Angel on the top of the tree was a big deal. Children adore this special event so be sure to lift them up so they can add the finishing touch to the tree.
7) On the day you decorate the tree you might want to let the children help you bake Christmas cookies or some other Christmas treat. Children love a tasty treat to make a day feel special and unique.
8) Many families hang the Christmas stockings when they up their Christmas tree but other families hang the stockings on Christmas Eve. Make sure you explain the concept of Santa coming to fill each stocking so the children will deeply enjoy hanging them. Each child should have their own stocking to hang themselves.
9) I like December to be a month of Christmas crafts. I try to think up unique craft ideas for my children to enjoy on the cold winter days when they cannot play outside. The crafts that they create I lovingly decorate our house with. Children love doing this. It gives them a deep feeling of accomplishment and it gives you mementoes to hang onto for a lifetime.
10) We decorate the windows in the house with easy to apply plastic stencils. These are wonderful scenes of Santa, Snowmen, and the Nativity. You can purchase them for reasonable amounts at any store and children adore them. It’s also fun to let your child decorate their bedroom window with these easy to apply scenes.
Christmas is always a wonderful time to spend with your children. Enjoy every moment of it because they pass by quickly. Enjoy making a Christmas magical for kids this year.
