They Learn More Than The Classroom
Kids do learn a lot from school, but that is all academic. They also need to learn about other things in the world too. There is a huge difference between learning about a place on a map and actually being there and experiencing it. When you travel Europe, you see the people, the culture and use the money. So it does incorporate a lot of social studying as well as maths, languages and history.
I am not saying take your kid out of school to go travelling around the world. If you are going to do that, you still need to make sure you follow some kind of home ed programme too. They are not going to get far in the world if they know all about different parts of the world. But they cannot read and write.
They Get To Meet So Many Different People
When I took my daughter backpacking in Europe at the age of 6, it was because I wanted her to see that not everyone in the world was evil. We had an experience at home and she had a problem with people. I took her to show her that the world is a huge place and people are so different. It worked for us.
They Learn About Different Customs
People in different countries have so many different customs. It is good for them to see how different people around the world live. You might travel to one country, and the way they live is totally different to the next country that you visit. We found this in Budapest, where everyone was so friendly and welcoming. But in the Czech Republic, they were different.
When we went to Istanbul, we acted like we normally do when we go to another country. We were polite and welcomed to the city. But we made a huge mistake, we were dressed in clothes that were not suitable for Istanbul. Most women were dressed head to toe in clothes, as is their custom. But we arrived in style wearing shorts and t-shirts. So always check the customs before you arrive in a new country or city.
Even the buildings are different in many countries, so it is great for kids to see. It is magical looking at the different architecture.

They Learn New Languages As They Travel Europe
At school our kids learn french from Key stage one. But France is not the only place they will ever visit. Some kids never even visit France. So when they travel, they get to experience different languages first hand. They can learn the basics before they embark on the trip. Learning a new language is so much easier now, because we have the internet as well as AI gadgets like Alexa and Google.
Life Is Too Short To Worry! So Travel Europe Now
If we learnt anything over the past few years, it is that we should stop worrying about the little things in life. Life really is too short and you need to make the most of it. You need to live life to the full and enjoy it. After all you don’t know what is around the corner.
If you feel that you should travel around Europe with your kids, then do it.
